Currently there is a number of management systems for flash-based sites on the market. The majority of them is designed to quickly create simple and pretty sites and they don’t require the professional knowledge of Flash technology being intended for a broad, mass audience of the beginning developers. This circumstance makes it easy to sell such systems, however, limits the ability to create professional Flash-based applications. Qubix CMS is designed for a different category of users: professional flash developers creating their own high-quality code from scratch and not using ready-made templates.
Type constructor. Flash developers can create their own visual data structures without the help of programmers. This reduces costs, development time and improves system stability because there’s no need to develop and test new modules.
Flash-site’s ability to get indexed by search engines. A usual flash website is «invisible» to the search engines, because for a search engine robot even the most sophisticated flash website is nothing more than an image that picture can’t be indexed. Qubix automatically generates additional
HTML-version and provides the search engine crawlers with a link to the secondary site. In a similar way, you can create the
HTML-versions for iPad and mobile devices that don’t support flash without any major extra costs. The content of the website needs to be added only once, the system will automatically update all other versions.
Platform independence. You can use any version of ActionScript in your Flash application: 3, 2 or 1. You can write applications in Flash or using the Flex framework. This feature allows you to use Qubix for sites powered by 3D-engines, as well as for the next version of ActionScript 4.
Enhanced media type support. Qubix allows you to manage the following types of content: text, image, sound, flash movies, videos, 3d-objects, 3d-textures, and also supports all the features of a flash-based website’s work with them. The system automatically generates useful meta-information about media content, such as image size, thumbnail size, the size of the flash movie, the size of the video, the size of preview for video and flash movies and so on.
Multipurpose constructor. Type constructor is used not only for the site’s main content, but also to add random data structure to flash site categories, user information and profiles.
Categories with properties. Management system categories function as sections and subsections of the site, thus defining its structure. In addition they may also contain their own properties (fields), such as a background color of the site’s section or a background image.
AMF binary data format. The data is transferred is in the form of arrays and objects in a serialized (compressed) form. For a flash developer, the data transfer is a completely transparent process: it connects standard classes and adds a standard piece of 20 lines of code into the project. The data comes in the form of an object with documented fields that doesn’t require any kind of processing (parsing, sorting, etc.) Using this protocol makes the exchange with the server faster, more flexible and secure.
Processing the outgoing flash site information. The system can not only yield the content but also process information in the opposite direction: feedback forms, registration forms, order forms, and so on. User information is also stored within the management system. The flash developer can create the incoming message structures using the type constructor. This allows creating flash portals – flash-based websites with user-generated content.
URL generation management. Categories have a special
URL field for the SEO-friendly links for
HTML-versions and deep-linking, generated by the SWF Object library.
Qubix
API allows to manage content, structure, and users with a Flash application via requests to the AMF-services, as well as to test the new functionality of the system via a service browser separately from the Flash application. This simplifies debugging complex applications.
Managing off-line presentations. There is a possibility to synchronize online and offline versions due to the export in
XML format with archiving of all of the website’s media content. The user gets a ready archive that is easy to download and unzip to the presentation folder.
